What is a Ping?

A ping is a packet of data sent out across the network to another computer, which in turn echos the signal back. The measurement of this round trip is known as network latency and a ping is a way to measure it.

Why do I care?

Finding connectivity in remote areas can be tricky. Measuring latency while scouting an area can reveal pockets of service that would otherwise be missed. PingPoint was designed to test for mobile connectivity so we recommended turning off wifi while using it unless you intend to test the connectivity of a hotspot or another cellular device.

What's with the colors?

Pings are grouped by different latencies. Fast pings are shown in green while slower pings are colored yellow, orange and red. Pings that are never echoed back will be colored gray.
